Our Board

We have seven board members who are volunteers and are passionate about the work we do. Their experience helps them make decisions about the policy and direction of the organisation.

Maureen Pardy (Chair) – In her early twenties she volunteered for the voluntary service overseas (VSO) and working out of Bristol helped renovate properties for the previously homeless to live in. She also took part in the first ever sponsored walk in Holland to raise funds for the VSO. Most of her working life was spent as a teacher of mathematics in comprehensive schools. Now she is the chair of STFH, the chair of Sarum u3a and the treasurer of Salisbury Arts Society.

Will Bennett – Will is a retired journalist and public relations consultant. Born in Salisbury, he worked for local newspapers before going to London as a staff news reporter on The Mail on Sunday, then The Independent and finally The Daily Telegraph. At the latter he moved from writing general news to the arts desk. He next joined an arts public relations company before finally working as PR consultant for a London auction house. He returned to Salisbury in 2016 and joined the Board of STFH the following year. He deals with press and PR matters for the charity.

Rachel McMillan – Rachel is currently working as financial controller with BCHA where she has been since 2019. Rachel has employment experience gained over a number of sectors including retail, engineering  and worked for 5 years at Spectrum Housing Group . Rachel is a qualified CIMA accountant with over 20 years’ experience.  Rachel joined the board in 2021.

Keith Phillimore – Keith is an accountant with nearly 30 years’ experience in practice with Smith & Williamson’s Salisbury office where he has been since joining from University in 1993.  He has also lived in and around Salisbury for the last 30 years.  Keith joined the Board in 2019.

The Reverend Canon Edward Probert – Edward was ordained in 1985, has been Canon Chancellor of Salisbury Cathedral since 2004, and Sub Dean since 2014. He previously served in parishes in Surrey and south London. Before ordination he took degrees in history and theology, and worked full time in a nightclub and among the homeless. He joined the Board of STFH in 2016.

Ken Smith – Ken is a retired History teacher having worked in a Salisbury secondary school for 34 years. He joined the Board of STFH in 2017. He is a member of the Fundraising Committee and takes part in fund-raising activities whenever he can. He finds his work with STFH rewarding having had a brief experience of being homeless himself, when younger.

Dr Ann Underwood – Ann is a retired dental surgeon with over fifty years experience as a self employed dentist running her own practice. She spent the last fifteen years running a very busy practice in Salisbury before retiring in 2016 and she has been on the STFH board as a trustee for most of the time since then. She was a magistrate in London for twenty four years and has been a Cathedral steward. She is a member of the Salisbury Rotary club and a Liveryman of three London Livery Companies.
